I am the founder of Healthy Amor Inc. Which stands for HEALTHY LOVE
I was born in Guatemala in 1978. I went to school there as a little girl in a small school that didn't have much, but it gave me everything — it gave me the chance to learn and have many laughs.
In 1991 I came to the United States and I now live in Mesa, Arizona. My heart still remembers Guatemala
Because my time has come to give back, my children are grown and before I become grandma, I’ve got time to serve.
Right now I work from my home. I partner up with a Maria who makes delicious tamales for a commission I sell them. I take unwanted things that people don't want anymore, I clean them, I fix them, I take pictures and I resell them. Every dollar of profit goes to Healthy Amor.
I am not traveling to Guatemala yet. What I do is send all the profit to Guatemala to restore the same school I attended when I was a child. The school needs paint, desks, supplies, and love. My family there helps me buy the materials and fix it and they send me pictures.
It is a lot of work. If I am not working with my hands, my mind is 90% on this. I started this nonprofit because I want to do more and I cannot do it alone anymore.
I started in Guatemala because it is my home country and it is my school. But my goal is bigger.
I want to continue restoring schools in Guatemala, uplifting schools that need help, and building new schools in Guatemala and in other countries that I can help.
And my biggest dream for Arizona — where I live now — is to one day own a home, an orphanage, a safe place for children whose parents are incarcerated. A place where they can stay, feel safe, go to school, and be loved until their parents get out of prison.
I believe every child deserves a safe school and a safe home.
Thank you for being here and for believing in Healthy Amor. With your help, we can turn love into action.
With love,
#IngridMorataya
